This is a moment of opportunity. Some Republican Senator or Governor should announce his candidacy for the Republican nomination for President in 2016. He should announce his reason: “I will repeal by executive order President Obama’s executive action granting amnesty to five million illegal aliens.”
That announcement would make him the front-runner. It would galvanize the Republican voter base. It would steal millions of Democrats.
He would then hammer on this for two years. This would be his promise: “My first act as President will be to repeal this unconstitutional monstrosity. I will sign my executive order when I give my inaugural address.”
The Republican who did this today — no hesitation, no straw polls — would turn all the other would-be candidates into: “Me, too.” It would preempt all of them.
Obama torpedoed Hillary yesterday. She is now on the defensive.
Some Republican could launch the second torpedo this afternoon. “Come out of the shadows, Mrs. Clinton. Make your position clear. Do you or don’t you favor what President Obama did on November 20? No waffling. Yes or no?”
