Faster Web Searching

Written by Gary North on July 30, 2016

Two weeks ago, I discovered something I did not know. I should have known it.

If you want to do a search, there is no longer any need to go to a search engine.

Just type in whatever you are looking for in the URL address box. You can use quotation marks to narrow your search to an exact phrase.

I use Firefox as my primary browser. I use Opera as my secondary. I have abandoned IE 11. It locked up on too many pages. I got tired of this. I switched to Opera.

With Firefox, when I use the URL box for searching, I get directed to results on Bing, which Microsoft runs. When I use Opera, I get directed to Google’s results.

Anyway, the next time you want to search for anything, use the URL address box. See if you like it.
