A week ago, I posted an article on the Independent Institute. It dealt with the organization’s policy of sending out a letter promoting its summer seminars. The letter had a deadline: the day it sent out the letter. It sent out the letter on the evening of the deadline.
I pointed out that it is a much better idea to send out the notification of a deadline before the deadline has passed. I am old school, you see.
That so impressed the head of the Independent Institute that he personally intervened. He extended the deadline to May 10. I received this notification at 9:09 p.m. on May 8. That was on Friday.
The deadline is tomorrow, Sunday.
This notification could have been mailed out on Monday, May 4. That would have given the recipients a week to send in an application. That would have been the old school approach.
The Independent Institute has adopted “not quite old school, but trying hard to change.”
Here is the offer. Act now, or forever hold your peace.
