Walter Williams teaches economics at George Mason University.
In his newspaper columns — you remember newspapers, I hope — he has made famous this line: “Go to the head of the class.”
Back in the mid-1970’s, he and I were part of a summer program sponsored by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute: “The Role of Business in Society.” For a week, a group of us would lecture to high school teachers. The presentations were made at a regional university. This was free for the teachers, and we got paid . . . eventually.
My favorite line of his was this: “When I married my wife, I discriminated against all other women.”
In 2014, the Free to Choose Network did a documentary on him. I recommend that you watch it.
He is a gracious man. Even if you do not finish watching this video, he has made you a generous offer. To take advantage of it, click here.
Here is the video. Note: if you use Firefox, disable HD. Otherwise, there are buffering problems: lock-ups. It works fine with Chrome. I don’t know about Internet Explorer.
