I cannot get these ads off my site. I have asked my technicians to try. The ads have started in the last week.
They are intrusive. More to the point, they are stupid.
Watch my video. I explain why the ads are stupid from a marketing standpoint. Only if the marketers have targeted imbeciles would these ads make money. You are not an imbecile. I hope. But you can learn from other people’s mistakes.
This will introduce you to the science — and it is a science — of direct-response marketing. The people who designed these ads need a refresher course.
Problem: the same stupid, sometimes noisy ads may be running as you view this. The ads ruin videos. This is another reason why I want to get rid of them. Why would anyone design an ad campaign based on ruining sites’ videos? This encourages site managers to block the ads. I surely would like to.
In between the ads — some without sound — there are what appear to be public service ads. They target people who drink too much booze. This may be seasonal: happy new year.
You can turn off these ads. There is a small II box in the upper right-hand screen of the ad. It’s just to the left of a speaker icon. Click it.
