Alaskan Border Patrol Agent Pulls His Gun on a Boy Scout.

Posted on July 23, 2014

About 10 days into the trip, an innocent action by one of the nearly two dozen Scouts at the Canadian border into Alaska set off a chain of events that lead to a U.S. border official pointing a gun at a scout’s head.

Boy Scout Troop 111 Leader Jim Fox spelled out what happened to him and the Mid-Iowa Boy Scout Troop 111 as four van-loads of Scouts and adult volunteers tried to drive from Canada into Alaska.

Fox said one of the Scouts took a picture of a border official, which spurred agents to detain everyone in that van and search them and their belongings.

“The agent immediately confiscated his camera, informed him he would be arrested, fined possibly $10,000 and 10 years in prison,” Fox said.

Fox said he was told it is a federal offense to take a picture of a federal agent.

Not wanting things to escalate, Fox said he did not complain.

Another of the Scouts was taking luggage from the top of a van to be searched when something startling happened.

“He hears a snap of a holster, turns around, and here’s this agent, both hands on a loaded pistol, pointing at the young man’s head,” Fox explained.

Fox said that had them all in fear.

There is just nothing quite like hiring the Lowest Common Denominator for a job in "law enforcement" is there?

Look at the types of fools, morons, idiots, and thugs population govern positions that include a shiny badge and a big gun to scale and intimidate people with.

  2. Some people should not have a gun; tough background checks, like those that should be used when people want to come here could help a lot. Some people are hired into positions of trust without the proper checks, especially for those who are supposed to be recognized as society's trusted protectors. Did the officer have a violent history, child abuse, bully in school (although most bullying never seems to get reported and recorded) ? We seem to have a bad crop of posers in uniform these days. Am not sure what the trigger happy official saw in the Boy Scout that made him fear for his own life and to draw his weapon and point it at a child. Just imagine what would have happened if the kid sneezed with the gun pointed at his head?

  3. It certainly is not a good thing and they target the wrong people, but what was a BS Troop doing at the border in the first place?

  4. justjammin says:

First of all, you hear "Boy Scouts" and you assume that they are…(Boy scouts) But what if they weren't? What if they just said they were. I want to hear the other side of the story.

  5. peleus212 says:

Just remember folks the standard tests were to hard for everyone so the material had to be scaled back so folks could not possibly fail it??

  6. peleus212 says:

Bet if the kid was illegal he'd have been welcomed, fed, clothed and housed…….. What's wrong with this picture?

  7. Let's not forget the pretty green State issued costume.

  8. Certainly they are scouts. It is the scout master telling the story. Clearly the BP agent thought they were not scouts, but why? And why did he feel so threatened by a van load of kids?

  9. mike6080 says:

transfer him to the southern border

  10. Patricia says:

So what exactly did the Boy Scout do that caused the Border Patrol Agent to draw his weapon? This is a very poorly written story about a grave matter. The basic requirements for a good story are to answer who, what, when, where and why.

  11. I think the second most nauseating part of this story (after putting a gun at a child’s head) is the Boy Scout spokesman comment that “we want Scouts to be good citizens and hopefully they learned a civics lesson” What they learned is do not question nor even do anything that might cause a government agent (or representative) any angst. This smacks of Hitlers Brown Shirts “do as your told, do not ask questions …… or expect yourself to be next!!”

  12. Dave Gray says:

I wonder why you can’t take a picture of a Federal Agent? Oh that’s right, no pics of “Asses” allowed! That’s total BS since a US Park Ranger is a federal agent and they take pictures with people all of the time at monuments and historical sights like Mount Rushmore, Washington Monument, etc.

  13. Jeanne Stotler says:

My son is an Eagle scout, and when they went on camping trips, their troop had magnetic signs so that other travelers knew they were a convoy, This is what scouts do, THET CAMP, and in order to have obtained "Order of the Arrow" sash they must show they can survive in wilderness, no tents, no matches, and hunt for edibles, truly "Justjammin" was never a boy scout.

  14. Jeanne Stotler says:

This is so backward, first ALL scouts have an ID card, this is needed to buy uniforms etc. and why are we stopping Americans at a Canadian, US border, when all the illegals are streaming over te southern border, firing shots at out Border Patrol and Obama goes out to raise money and play golf.

  15. It wasnt a Border Patrol Agent. It was a Customs Agent at a Port of Entry – not the same thing.

  16. Perhaps he was wanted for a crime , and was afraid the picture might reach the wrong 'right ? " people . Whatever he had to know they were boy scouts. I agree with mike6080 , transfer him to the southern border .

  17. carlwk3c says:

Yes. The scout spokesman is a statist ass. Indoctrinating kids to be compliant serfs is not what scouting is supposed to be about. The spokesman gets an F for character.

  18. carlwk3c says:

That was just a BS excuse to detain, search, and hassle them so the Gestapo, agent could flex his muscles.
Cops and Feds lie to people all the time to get them to comply with illegal searches and other harassment.

  19. Note: Send Alaska border patrol agents to Mexican border

  20. Holy Shirt says:

Lowered requirements, lax screening and nominal training make incidents like this one inevitable. If this agent feared Gazan Boy Scouts were infiltrating the United States, he may have been posted to the wrong border. I suspect political correctness will prevent many hidden facts of this incident from ever being exposed.

  21. the proper way to cross these days is over a fence, any other way shows a lack of support for turds elected in office.

  22. Some of these Scouts were probably considering future careers in public “service”. If all of them decide never to get a government job this terrorist act will have served a good purpose. Thankfully none of them were murdered in the process.

Also: in recent years US law enforcement has been getting “special training” from the Mossad. Is it any wonder that gun-toting bureaucrats treat Americans the same way Israelis treat Palestinians?
