In what could be a future case study on firearms, fatal self-defense shootings are on the rise in Detroit. Instead of victims, criminals are increasingly facing armed citizens determined to defend themselves and their homes.
On Tuesday, a Detroit man reportedly shot and killed two men he said tried to break into his home. Assuming the shooting is ruled self-defense, that means there have been 10 fatal self-defense shootings in Detroit in 2014 so far.
“Detroit has traditionally had a large percentage of the nation’s justifiable homicides by citizens. In 2012, the last year for which national figures are available, there were 25 justifiable homicides in Detroit, which made up 8 percent of the 310 seen nationwide,” the Detroit News reports. “Last year, there were 15 justifiable homicides in the city.”
Detroit is on pace to see as many as 40 fatal self-defense shootings this year. But will the increase in armed resistance against criminals result in less crime?
Common sense says yes, but only time will tell. In recent years, the city has been plagued with violence and criminal activity.
The Detroit News has more details on some of the recent self-defense shootings:
• On March 7, a woman in her 50s shot and killed a man trying to break into her home in the 22000 block of Grove Street. She heard noises at her rear window and shot the intruder in the chest.
• At 2 a.m. Feb. 22, two men broke into a house on the city’s southwest side; the homeowner shot both men. A 21-year-old man died and the other man escaped.
• Earlier on Feb. 22, at 12:30 a.m., a woman who was surprised by a gunman when she pulled her car into the garage was able to reach for her own gun and fatally shoot the man.
Nothing makes my heart more joyous than criminals being shot dead….saving the taxpayers money in police arrests, jail, prosecution and incarceration of this scum. What part of this don't the liberals get???

All shooter of notoriety since John Wilkes Booth have been Democrats or an offspring of a Democrat…Not one shooter was a member of the NRA, a Republican or a Libertarian, nor a conservative, nor a Tea Party folk, nor an Eagle Scout, nor an American Veteran…All were Democrats..Yet it is Democratic Senators who are urging their constituents to go "kill some NRA members!"…There oughta be a law that anyone registered as a Democrat can not own a firearm, a knife, or a big stick!
Shooting the bastards dead saves $millions in Lawyers fees, court costs, incarceration fees.
Gets the trash out of the gene pool.

Finally people are waking up and using some common sense. Not that killing is a good thing , but why would anybody want to be a victim in reverse? and you be the one dead or seriously injured ? Amazingly people have bought into the so-called laws that have kept them as the victims for far too long and finally waking up as the perpetrators are being coddled or even enticed with the insane policies and bogus laws ?
Not all but a very disproportionate number and certainly in Detroit and other racially slanted cities like Atlanta ? Lots of illegal aliens and whites as well .
Many of my close friends are law enforcement officers. The simple fact is are that police are a "reactionary" force. They cannot act until a crime is committed, and there aren't enough of them to protect everyone. The common citizen must be able to protect him/her self. That doesn't mean that we should be vigilantes – That would be foolish and dangerous, not to mention illegal but we have a God given right to use deadly force for self defense IF it is required.
WELL: The People are tired of being Robbed,Raped,Assaulted etc while it takes 15 min to two hours for the police to arrive. I agree a DEAD criminal on the floor is better than three sitting in jail being fed and clothed by the taxpayer who is getting nothing in return Once freed from Jail most go right back to being a criminal. Just like a DOG that starts killing livestock all you can do to stop it is put it down.
Sounds like they are beginning to reduce the criminal population in Detroit. It is way past time for that to happen. Keep it up you good people in Detroit. I know there has to be a bunch of you and now you have a police chirf that seems to be on your side.
It's obvious why they object, They will lose their voter base!

Now if you really want to wake up, you'll stop voting for the progressives that got you there in the first place. Most of you up there are black, you can trust that Barry and the Democrats only like you for your voting-finger. Beyond that, they see you as a bunch of easily controlled fools.
