Posted on March 10, 2014

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) says he isn’t worried about tea party-backed candidates challenging GOP incumbents in this year’s midterm elections.

“I think we are going to crush them everywhere,” McConnell told the New York Times in an interview published Saturday. “I don’t think they are going to have a single nominee anywhere in the country.”

McConnell is one of several senators facing tea party opposition in their primary races this spring. McConnell’s main opponent is Kentucky businessman Matt Bevin, who has spent the campaign attacking the senator’s conservative credentials. As the Associated Press reported last month, McConnell and other GOP incumbents have started to come out aggressively against these candidates, using opposition research to undermine them.

  1. Not Worried says:

He is worried even if he says he is not. Just look at the money he is spending to stay in the race.

  2. Philip Allen says:

Dream on Sen. McConnell, you and the Dumbocrats of both major parties are so infected with spenditist that you think a trillion dollars is chump change.

  3. empty pockets says:

“I think we are going to crush them everywhere,”

Finally something for which I can sincerely say, “Thank you” to McConnell. “Thank you for removing all doubt about who’s side you are on. You are on your own ‘side’ and have every intention, if given the chance, to continue to ignore the will of the people whom you are SUPPOSED to be serving.”

Don’t let the door hit you in the a$$ on your way out.

Nothing is ever true until the official denials happen.

  5. Whether or not McConnell is able to hang onto his job for another ill-gotten term, his days in the sun are over.

I'm sure McConnell, Reid, and other barnacles of the republic will share many a drink together commiserating on the "stink" of the common peasantry that keep their lives from being a total cake-walk of privilege.

  6. Robert What? says:

Has there ever been a political party who openly hate their own voter base befote? Or is this a first?

  7. Hossmiester says:

Hey now! Mitch represents all his constituents, problem is Mitch is his only constituent. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Senator John McCain (R-AZ.) (both RINO'S) need to quietly step down and make the way for true Conservitives to serve.

  8. Read it again. He' not supporting Tea party candidates. He's against them. Read something besides the headline.

  9. icthelite says:

The only GOP incumbents that need to worry are those that have turned RINO. They are worse than die hard liberals because they hide in their closets until they are needed to support a conservative cause then they surface like the scum they're supporting and turn on their party. McConnell thinks he irreplaceable and is one of the worst offenders. He, McCain, Boehner and about a dozen more so called conservatives.
