Do the math. That’s $800,000 per prisoner.
Why? To find out, here is a video from NBC News. The reporter is the poor soul whose story on Clinton and Monica got suppressed by Newsweek in 1998, and who therefore made Matt Drudge a multi-millionaire.
Gitmo is being upgraded, as you have seen. I was happy to see that the military is providing free courses in personal financial management and another in how to write an effective job application. I can see it now. Recent employment history: “Researching government waste in off-shore prison facilities.”
Obama promised to close Gitmo. He hasn’t.
American forces are still in Afghanistan. Osama bin Laden is dead. Al Qaeda no longer operates there. The Taliban does. The Taliban was in control prior to 2001. It had nothing to do with the attacks on 9-11, and no one in power ever said that it did.
When will we close Gitmo? When the Great Default hits.
I hope the prisoners have developed their job application skills. They will need them.
