A United Nations World Tax for a World Welfare State

Written by Gary North on February 7, 2012

A committee of the United Nations Organization is proposing a new international tax on the world’s banks. Variations of this have been floated since the 1930s, under the League of Nations. Back then, there was a proposal for a zero-tariff policy, with an income tax on multinational corporations that would take advantage of this zero-tariff policy. The idea went nowhere.

So will this idea. But the money-grabbing welfare state socialists who propose this tax are representative of all welfarstatete promoters. They argue that the rich (meaning productive people) owe their wealth the poor (meaning unproductive people). There is not enough wealth on earth to placate these thieves. If we surrender to them in principle, we are doomed.

I don’t think we will. They don’t have the political power to get what they want. But if they did, they would steal it all.

They are paid huge tax-exempt salaries by the UN to promote such thievery. They have cashed in on the suckers of the West: taxpayers

. . . Inside the U.N., another group of civil society leaders demanded a basic level of social security as they promoted a “social protection floor” at a preparatory forum for the Commission on Social Development, which began Feb. 1.

The focus of the forum was “universal access to basic social protection and social services.”

“No one should live below a certain income level,” stated Milos Koterec, President of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. “Everyone should be able to access at least basic health services, primary education, housing, water, sanitation and other essential services.”

These services were presented at the forum as basic human rights equal to the rights of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

The money to fund these services may come from a new world tax.

“We will need a modest but long-term way to finance this transformation,” stated Jens Wandel, Deputy Director of the United Nations Development Program. “One idea which we could consider is a minimal financial transaction tax (of .005 percent). This will create $40 billion in revenue.”

“It is absolutely essential to establish controls on capital movements and financial speculation,” said Ambassador Jorge Valero, the current Chairman of the Commission on Social Development. He called for “progressive policies of taxation” that would require “those who earn more to pay more taxes.”

Valero’s speech to the forum focused on capitalism as the source of the world financial problems.

When asked where she expected the money to provide all needy people with a basic income, healthcare, education and housing would come from, Fatima Rodrigo, one of the presenters at the forum, mentioned the “very small tax of .005 percent.”

She added, “There is plenty of money, we just need to stop spending it on militaries and wars.”

They propose to tax a little — hardly anything. Maybe $10 per person. Maybe just a little more. This tiny tax will feed, house, clothe, and educate the world’s poor: $40 billion divided by the world’s poor —  maybe 3 billion people.  That’s all they want. Trust them.

These socialoists want the precedent of a “tiny” tax. Once they get it imposed, they will would increase the tax indefinitely. They are just like the welfare state promoters in the USA. They want it all.

  1. If and when American's wake up, they will give the UN 30 days to vacant the building in NY. Turn it into a movie's or know it down and make a parking lot.

  2. Patriot Diva says:

Another reason to abolish the UN now. It is a CORRUPT organization that does not recognize the sovreignty of any nation, least of all America.

  3. The UN is the premier "shake down" organization of all time. If the US would pull out of the UN and send no more money, this worthless bunch would go out of business, as they should. The UN lines the pockets of countless thousands of dictators, thugs and murderers all over the world. I have never understood why our elected politicians want to support such treachery, but then again–maybe they are getting "something" out of it.

The UN is a building of fools. I have advocated it’s relocation to europe all of my life.
A recall reading about the UN in “My Weekly Reader” in school in the 1950’s. I could see how the UN went diametrically opppostie our country’s view on just about everything, even then.
My opinion of the UN has never changed over the years.
The UN works against the US, they hate us.

I have secretly wished 9/11 would have targeted THEM and not our people.
The UN would never have been missed….at least not by us.

    Right on!

  7. For all intents and purposes, the U.S. is the U.N. If the U.S. left the U.N., it would cease to exist. If the U.N. actually implements a world tax, it is because the U.S. approved it.

  8. Isn’t it inevitable? It’s part of the “healing” process – things get worse before they get better.
We get the government we deserve. Ultimately we will look in the mirror and see what caused the latest collapse of civilization.

  9. Neil, you are quite right. The UN exists because the US governemnt wants it to exist. The UN acts because the US government wants it to act.

The UN may be an enemy of the people (in the US and around the world), but it is a friend of the state.

Those who believe the US government can be convinced to stop supporting the UN do not understand the common cause of both entities.

  10. Paul Trombley says:

It seems that abolition of Publius' monstrosity, the creature from Philadelphia, is the only way to eliminate the UN. Of course, rightwing Americans would never go along with that; it might undermine the power and might of their precious military.

And then we have the reactionary conservatism of the Democrats and the Republicans. Neither party is interested in uprooting and burning what sustains crony capitalism and welfare statism in America. The science nerds, too, will oppose abandonment of the federalist constitution, for it could hurt NASA, among other pet agencies. I could go on and on, e.g. about the statism and servility of Catholic priests. Or about the bankers and their cartel. Or about the construction workers eager for another big infrastructure project. Or about the automakers, aircraftmakers, and airlines dependent upon the federal government's rigging of commerce in their favor. And what about the millions of veterans who are eager to maintain their status as taxfeeders?
