There have always been people who have recommended leaving the USA for greener pastures. I have not been one of them.
I have always recommended that Americans move abroad for a year, rent a house, and see how well they adjust. Don’t go cold turkey. Go “warm turkey.”
A recent article on this spells out the details of reasons why staying in your home base country is a good idea. This list should be your starting point. Your second list — a list of tell-tale signs of reasons to leave — should be examined in light of the “hunker down here” list.
Here is reality: almost no debt-burdened American can afford to move out of the country. You must get out of debt if you want to leave.
You must also have hard assets outside the country before you leave. I recommend GoldMoney and Bullion Vault.
But there are other things you must deal with before you make your move. Click through on the link for this list.
My view is this: you have a sense of how this country works. It will take years to gain this sense abroad. You will be in strange territory. Your skills in operating in the USA are a major economic asset — capital. You will be forfeiting this capital if you leave.
A major consideration: foreign nations restrict gun ownership. The USA is the freest nation on earth with respect to gun ownership. Never forget this.
